The job interview should be pleasant and you should be a
winner. During the Interview it is advisable to follow the
very basic tips: |
HOMEWORK
Do a detailed research about the company, the position and
the interviewer. Review your past work experiences and be
ready to support your achievements. Keep all the
accreditation certificates, memberships, Medals etc.
Spend time either on the Internet
or at the library learning as much as possible about the
company and the most recent developments in your chosen
field. Try to know the Job Description and reporting
structure in detail. |
ROLE PLAY
Once you have completed your research, start rehearsing. Be
ready for all general questions which will start from your
resume. Write down your answers and try to make a concise
presentation. |
BODY LANGUAGE
Greet the Interviewer with a firm handshake. Try to maintain
friendly eye contact with your interviewer. Maintain open
and upright body posture throughout the meeting. |
POSITIVE MENTAL ATTITUDE
Be positive and realistic about your skills, goals. Discuss
your positive team playing attitude as per the Job
Description provided to you. Please note Interviewers are
expert in reading your mind. Avoid negative comments about
past employers and job profile. |
LISTEN AND ADAPT
Be very sensitive to the attitude and style of the
interviewer. Listen and act as per the interviewer’s
behavior. These details will give you helpful clues for
your presentation. |
RELATE
Your answers should be related to the interviewer and the
company. Focus on achievements which are relevant to the
position to which you have applied. Be Specific. |
ENCOURAGE
You should encourage the interviewer to share information
about their company. What is the company culture? When and
why did they join the company? What do they enjoy the most? |
PUNCTUALITY
Reach the venue well in advance. Never ever be late. |
DRESS CODE
Formal dress is often recommended which suits to the company
culture. Dress should be neat, clean and conservative. |
HYGIENE AND BODY ODOUR
Be hygiene. Do not apply more perfumes and it may work
against you. |
PAST TRACK RECORD
Today's interviews are behavioral-based. The questions will
be worded in such a way as to elicit a personality or work
trait through how you have handled things in the past. Make
your answers short and to the point. Use your work and
education as the basis of your answers. It is not acceptable
to say you cannot remember an applicable instance. Emphasize
the point the interviewer asked about and remember another
later question will verify your answer. |
COMPENSATION
The employer ask you how much you are looking for. Respond
by saying, "I am interested in your position and I would
like to earn as much money as possible. I will entertain any
fair offer. What would you offer me?" If the employer makes
a firm offer and you want the job, accept it. If you are
doubtful or undecided ask for 24 hours to think it over.
Never refuse an offer of employment until you have time to
think it over and discuss. |
THANK YOU
Before leaving the interview hall, thank the interviewer for
taking the time to talk with you. Follow up with a personal
thank you note or email stating why you are interested and
that you can do and want the job. |
